Fairfield native promoted to senior office in National Guard

Fairfield native, Lt. Col. Donald J. Mosinski, the son of the late Leonard J. and CoeAnn Mosinski, also of Fairfield, has been promoted to colonel during a recent ceremony at the Iowa National Guard's Joint Forces Headquarters, in Johnston, Iowa.
With more than 33 years of service in the Iowa Army National Guard, Mosinski currently serves as the organization's director of logistics.
A 1985 graduate of Fairfield High School, Mosinski has previously served as the commander for the 185th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, in Johnston, the distribution management division chief at the Joint Forces Headquarters, and as the support operations officer of the 248th Aviation Support Battalion, located in Boone, Iowa.
Mosinski deployed to Iraq with the 224th Engineer Battalion in 2004 as the battalion maintenance officer, head of all battalion maintenance operations. In 2016, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 185th CSSB as the battalion commander.
Mosinski earned a bachelor's degree from Simpson College (1990) and a master's degree from Graceland College (2012).
He currently resides in Audubon, with his wife Jennifer S. Mosinski. She is the daughter of Marlene J. Schossow and the late Robert E. Schossow, of Pomeroy, Iowa. The Mosinskis have three children: Sarah, Rachel and Luke.
