Fairfield RSVP searching for fruit to harvest

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Fairfield, known as RSVP, is searching for fruit owners would like to share.
LaVon Hostatler suggested that RSVP harvest fruit from trees that the owners would be willing to share. The fruit could then be donated to Jefferson County's food pantry, The Lord's Cupboard.
Laura Cohen, director of The Lord's Cupboard, is interested in receiving the produce for their customers.
Hostatler had done a similar program in Tucson, Arizona, where she said it was very successful.
Anyone who would care to share their trees for harvesting, or assist with the harvesting itself, can call John Miller, RSVP coordinator for Jefferson County, at 641-919-4242, or email him at j.miller@wapellocouw.org.
One or two dates -- most likely a weekend in September -- will be selected for the harvest, depending on the fruit available.
