Fall Keota Elementary STEM Club Registrations Open Now for November STEM Club

A partnership between Washington County Extension and Keota Elementary PTO has been announced which will continue the After School STEM Club.
Registration is now open for the November Club for any 4th-6th grade Keota Elementary student who wants to experiment more with science, technology, engineering, and math. Each session will use an Engineering is Elementary and State 4-H curriculum. Washington County Extension & 4-H and Ketoa Elementary PTO are partnering together to offer additional and fun ways for Keota youth to interact with science more in a hands-on setting while making new friends and connecting with caring adults in the community.
The November session will meet Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25 after school until 5 p.m. in the Keota Elementary Library. The unit is called 'Outbreak ALERT!”.
Youth will become biomedical engineers as they explore how to prepare for outbreaks of highlight contagious diseases. They will use the Engineering Design Proves to design an antiviral to stop a newly discouvered virus from infecting the model cell . This is a great hands-on reminder of germ spreading right before flu season. November STEM Club will be taught by Rachel Klein.
Registrations accepted on a first come, first serve basis until October 30 at the Keota Elementary Office with limited space available. There is a $10 fee due with the registration form made to Keota Elementary PTO.
Forms will be sent home with Keota 4th-6th grade students the week of October 11 and are also available on the Extension website at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington/
