The former J.C. Penney building, which now houses Penny Lane and Somebody Cares, is a few bricks short of a wall. This morning bricks fell from around the window just above the awning to the sidewalk below, with one brick going through the awning. Fairfield police and fire departments were called to rope off the area. It appears the area around the window has bowed outward. The building will be inspected for structural soundness and to determine what steps must be taken to insure safety.
