Join the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce as we celebrate our rich agriculture community! The 2024 Barnyard Bash is presented by Jefferson County Farm Bureau and Agri-Industrial Plastics Company. This family-friendly event will take place at the historic Maasdam Barns on Friday, Sept. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The Barnyard Bash promises an afternoon of fun and entertainment for all ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the beautifully preserved Maasdam Barns, enjoy a variety of activities, and indulge in delicious food and fun.
The fun begins at 4 p.m. and will include various area businesses with agriculture-related booths and interactive activities! Two bounce houses, a tractor-cade, barrel train rides, antique tractors, and many more displays and demonstrations will take place throughout the evening. There will be a giant bubble-making activity at the Chamber booth, animals for children to pet and learn about, ropemaking, corn shelling, and putting hay up with a horse. So much fun to be had!
“We are excited to bring the community together for a day of fun and celebration at the Barnyard Bash,” said Mendy McAdams, Chamber Director. “Maasdam Barns is a cherished landmark in our community, and this event is a wonderful way to showcase its history while providing a day of enjoyment for families. We love being able to provide this free event to our community.”
From 4 to 5 p.m. children can come and enjoy the antique playground and the Maasdam Barns museum will be open. This area will be closed the remainder of the event. At 5:30, Jefferson County Farm Bureau and the Soil and Water District will give out the Conservation Landowner Award to a local. There will be other demonstrations following.
Food will be available for purchase from the Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association and the Jefferson County Pork Producers, who will both be on-site grilling. NEW this year: Lemonade shake-ups will be sold by the Girl Scouts as a fundraiser, and the Fairfield FFA will be selling snow cones to raise funds. These fundraisers are made possible by TDT CPAs & Advisors.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Kisling Construction, guests will also enjoy the convenience of a new luxury restroom trailer on-site for this year’s event.
Two piñatas will be dropped from the barn full of goodies for kids after the award is given. Bottled water was donated by Hy-Vee for the event. Shelter Insurance and Agri-Industrial Plastics will each have a bounce house at the event for the children to enjoy.
Grab the kids and head over to the historic Maasdam Barns for food and family fun until 7 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy all the interactive agriculture exhibits and the historic Maasdam Barns.
Parking is available at the Jefferson County Health Center parking lot; a shuttle service will take attendees directly to the barns.
