Farm Group to meet Aug. 28

Washington County Extension and Outreach will be hosting a Start to Farm Group meeting on Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Washington County Extension office located at 2223 250th St. Washington.

Guest speaker, Dr. Chad Hart, crop market specialist and extension economist, will provide an interactive and educational program on grain marketing. He will explain different tools available for producers to market their crops and when each should be used. Also, that evening he will set up an online simulation for all who are interested to practice the skills learned. The simulation portion will run over several months and participants will be updated in future meetings.

A light meal will be provided. The meeting is open to all beginning farmers from southeast Iowa, specifically those farming 10 years or less. There is no charge for the event, but please RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811 or nadrian@iastate.edu by noon on Aug. 28.
