Farmers Market continues in August

The Fairfield Farmers Market will continue each Wednesday and Saturday in August offering fresh locally gown produce, goodies and entertainment.

Kicking off the entertainment in August will be Foliba African Drumming at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Aug. 11 will be market favorite: Fiddlin? Granny Joan Ancell at 9:30 a.m.; and another Taste of the Market experience where tomatoes and okra will be showcased for sampling after 10:30 a.m.

Aug. 18 beckons Beauty Shop musical resident Zoe Boekbinder at 10 a.m. For more information about the musical residency program or any other Bonnell building project, contact the Beauty Shop at 60 W. Burlington Ave. Also on Aug. 18, entertainment includes Kids Crafts with GoJindy, with free up-cycled fun for kids and adults.

Rounding out the month on Aug. 25 will be Josie Overmyer and vocals starting at 10 a.m.

August harvests include: onions, cabbage, broccolis, cauliflower, collards, kale, carrots, beets, chard, snap beans, lima beans, sweet corn, tomato, peppers, eggplants, squash, cucumber, muskmelons and watermelons.

Additionally, the market offers a variety of plants, starter plants, jellies and jams, meat, baked goods, locally made jewelry and other delights.

The Fairfield Farmers Market is at Howard Park. The market begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until around 1 p.m. on Saturdays; on Wednesdays, it begins at 3 p.m. and lasts until 6 p.m.
