Farmers? market plans set
The Fairfield Farmers Market has announced its programming for July beginning with the Skunk River Medicine Show at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 3-6 p.m. Wednesdays in Howard Park.

The Fairfield Farmers Market has announced its programming for July beginning with the Skunk River Medicine Show at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 3-6 p.m. Wednesdays in Howard Park.
The market currently has almost two dozen farmers selling a wide variety of products, including summer squash, sweet corn, peas, spinach, collards, kale, carrots, beets, chard and a wide variety of peppers.
Additionally, some vendors offer a variety of meats, eggs, starter plants, jellies and jams, baked goods, locally made jewelry and other homegrown goodness. As an added bonus, much of the produce is certified organic.
In addition to the medicine show Saturday, other programs during July will be:
July 14 ? Julia Ross and friends at 10 a.m.; Fairfield Art Association Young Artist mentoring with Kella J., who will give a German-flavor art lesson starting at 10 a.m.; and a Wild Fermentation Demonstration for sauerkraut and kimchi at 11 a.m.
July 21 ? Dave Leffler Quartet at 10 a.m.; Taste of the market: the wonderful world of peppers; Kid?s Crafts with GoJindy at 10 a.m. Participants need to bring empty cereal boxes.
July 28 ? Haven at 10 a.m.; Fairfield Art Association Young Artist mentoring with Kella J., who will have a Musical Expression in Visual Art lesson starting at 10 am
Pound-for-pound, many fresh fruits and vegetables are actually less expensive at farmers markets than at grocery stores, according to the Farmers Market Coalition.
Snap Benefits are accepted by most vendors.
