From 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, a fashion show displaying time period clothing through the 1950s will be held at Conger House.
Conger House volunteer Dani Kane said the Southeast Iowa Folk and Acoustic Club will be performing at the event. She said the group will be dressed in authentic Civil War regalia. She said Conger House is open every third Sunday of the month from June through October and the volunteers had been working on fun events to make each opening different.
"We are bringing out a unique edge with the fashion show where it is not just your normal clothes, but we are also going to have a swimwear section and a sleepwear section," she said. "The goal is that this will grow and become something that will annually happen and people will look forward to."
This is the first year for the fashion show. After the fashion show, people can enter the museum as part of the ticket. Kane said over 23 items of clothing will be displayed. She said there is one other piece she is trying to get, but declined to say what, not wanting to ruin the surprise.
She said most of the items are time period for Washington. The clothing will run from the late 1800s to the 1950s. There will also be some Renaissance clothing in the event. She said proceeds from the event go to the Washington Historical Society.
