February is Black History Month and the Washington Public Library wants to help highlight some of the inspiring people who shaped black history and the important moments that occurred to bring them liberation.
An array of books will be present on our display shelf to the right of the circulation desk that you may browse or check-out. A few of the books displayed will be biographies, which will include Dreams From my Father by Barack Obama, 12 Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, Duke: A Life of Duke Ellington by Terry Teachout, and more.
We will also have black American poetry available to check-out, as well as a book that features black inventors and their creations, such as fire escape ladders, ironing boards, electric railway trolleys, and much, much more. The display will be up throughout the month of February so make sure you come and check it out!
