Felgar Estate gives quarter million to Greater Jefferson County Foundation
Nov. 25, 2021 12:12 am
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation announced another major gift from the Estate of Darlene and Edd Felgar. In addition to scholarship funds received earlier this year, the amount of $250,000 was presented to the Foundation at the semi-annual board meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021.
The Felgars always looked forward to “dirt track races” every year, and as a way to honor and memorialize these two enthusiasts, they gifted these funds to the Foundation to assist the Jefferson County Fair Board with building a new and improved facility to keep these races alive and well in Fairfield. The name of the new facility will be the “Felgar Memorial Speedway.”
Darlene was a long-time employee and officer at Iowa Stat Bank & Trust Company of Fairfield. Edd was a patrolman on the police department in Fairfield.
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation was established in 1973 to serve the Greater Jefferson County area as a means to leave funds to benefit future generations. For more information, visit the website at www.greaterjeffersoncountyfoundation.org, or call 641-472-0758.
