The 2021 Fairfield High School Wall of Honor inductees will be honored during an assembly in the FHS Auditorium Friday morning, Sept. 24. The inductees, selection committee members, administration, and others will meet for breakfast before the assembly. The entire high school, community members, and friends, and family will gather in the FHS Auditorium at 9 a.m. for the assembly.
After opening remarks from the administration, selected individuals will introduce the 2021 Wall of Honor inductees: James Cornick, Jill Burnett, Sally Johnston and Jim Edgeton.
Cornick will be introduced by Don Samuelson; Burnett by Amber Stump McDowell, Johnston by Joneane Parker, and Edgeton by Ron Hunerdosse. The four inductees will speak to the audience about their education and life experiences.
The Wall of Honor’s newest members will later be a part of the Homecoming parade, which will travel past Washington Elementary School, Fairfield Middle School, and Pence Elementary School. The parade will depart from the high school at 2 p.m. Friday.
After passing the other schools, the parade will end at the town square where the pep assembly will take place. A tailgating party will be held for the Wall of Honor inductees and their families in the high school commons area at 5 p.m. New members will be introduced at half-time of the varsity game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
The FHS Wall of Honor was established to recognize distinguished graduates of FHS and is funded through private donations. Those interested in donating to the FHS Wall of Honor fund should contact the high school office at 641-472-2059. Anyone may nominate FHS graduates of distinction, and forms are available in the FHS principal’s office or on the Fairfield Community School District website, fairfieldsfuture.org.
Induction is held every other year in the fall. An engraved picture plaque of each of the members adorns the north wall of the high school commons.
