In order to take part in the Super Regional Championship the Finger Tightans first had to advance out their league, and through a super qualifier in order to take part in the Iowa State Championship. At the Iowa Championship the Finger Tightans won the Think Award for documenting their engineering process and the journey they took this season. They were one of only 13 teams to advance from the Iowa state competition to the North Super Regional.
At the North Super Regional the students had the opportunity meet and learn from students from schools as far away as North Dakota, Kentucky, and everywhere in between. As well as taking part in the competition the event offered opportunities for students to show what they have learned with one another and to meet new people. The team took part in a game night with other students on Thursday and attended RoboProm on Friday Night. The students also interacted with competition judges and officials.
To this point the Finger Tightans have advanced based on their presentations and interactions with judges for team awards and last weekend was no different. The team was a finalist at the Super Regional Championship for the ?Think Award? and though they did not win, they were one of 34 teams that advanced to join a total of 128 from around the world to compete at the FTC World Championship in Detroit, Michigan.
