Fairfield Fire Department responded to a call at 2:38 a.m. Saturday at 1727 Hemlock Ave. Daryl Stangle was awakened by a smoke dectector ringing in the residence. Built-up creosote had ignited in the fireplace/chimney.
Firefighters assisted with clean up at the site of the accident at Highways 1 and 34, using a bag of oil dry and extinguishing a vehicle electrical fire.
