Firefighters use ax to remove trapped motorist

Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office responded at 1:19 p.m. Saturday to reports of a pickup truck on its side along the Highway 34 West near mile marker 218.
Brianne Leah Delker of Ottumwa, was driving a 2006 Chevy Colorado and lost control due to road conditions. Her vehicle enter the north ditch and came to rest on the driver?s side. Several passing motorists called it in, then Delker herself called, saying she was trapped in the vehicle and her head was bleeding.
Fairfield Fire Department also responded at 1:25 p.m. Six firefighters used an ax to remove the vehicle windshield and help Delker out of the truck. Firefighters returned to the station at 2:10 p.m.
The truck had an estimated $3,000 in damages.
