Revival meetings planned

Burkhalter Ministries will lead revival meetings Sunday through Wednesday for First Church of the Nazarene.

The revival meetings will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at the church; 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the church; and 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, preceded by the church?s weekly meal, featuring soups, at 6 p.m., at the Nazarene Family Center,

Burkhalter Ministries includes Evangelist Pat Burkhalter, his wife Donna and son Jonathan. They will be singing and preaching at the meetings. Their desire is to see revival in every church, to see lives changed and needs met. They have more than 30 years of full-time ministry in evangelism in the Church of the Nazarene.

God?s Portion Sale Nov. 9

BLADENSBURG ? The Bladensburg Christian Church will have its 65th annual God?s Portion Sale from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

The menu includes pit ham, ham balls, pork loin and roast beef with all the trimmings.

An auction of crafts and homemade goods will be held after the meal.

Rabbi to present lecture

Rabbi Chaim Gruber of New York City, now in Fairfield, will present a lecture from 7:10-8 p.m. and again from 8:10-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Public Library.

Gruber, ultra-Orthodox ordained on Mount Zion, Jerusalem, will speak about the Judeo-Christian perspective of ?Does God want us to eat meat??

According to Gruber, the Bible?s permission to eat meat comes after the great flood. Adam, Eve, and thereby mankind were at first vegetarians. He asks, ?this considered, is this meat-eating permission merely a lesser of two evils measure? Meaning, did mankind have to then resort to eating meat because the after-the-flood extinction of many types of vegetative species made eating meat necessary for survival??
