FAIRFIELD - The 'Come to Supper” program will celebrate its 4th anniversary on February 14. 'Come to Supper” is a community meal in Fairfield for those in need or who are lonely and looking for companionship during a meal. At inception, 'Come to Supper” served one meal twice a month for about 10 people. Four years later we serve a meal every Tuesday evening for 40 to 55 people. These meals are prepared and served by local churches and civic groups in the Fairfield area.
Thank you to the many churches and civic groups who have been willing to take part in 'Come to Supper.” Your participation is greatly appreciated!
Lately, however, we are having a difficult time recruiting groups who are willing to serve and are at a crossroads where difficult decisions need to be made about the future of the program. Presently we have one Tuesday night open in January, (meal on the 7th canceled), three open in February and four in March. No one is signed up for the remainder of 2020. Unless more groups volunteer, we are considering returning to serving the meal twice a month, or discontinuing the program for a while or even permanently.
If your church or group is willing to help by preparing and serving a meal, please contact Pastor Greg Friedrich at First Lutheran Church, phone # 641-472-4184 or Email flcpastor@lisco.com.
