First Lutheran guest; SALT group; Gamma Circle

First Lutheran hosting special guest Sunday

The assistant to the bishop, Pr. Paul Ostrem, will be joining the First Lutheran Church congregation for worship Sunday.

Each year, a staff member from the Southeastern Iowa Synod worships with each of the synod?s churches, and it is Ostrem?s turn to join First Lutheran Church in Fairfield this year.

Ostrem also will be presenting a forum after worship on the candidacy process of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He will provide information on how to support the training of a seminarian from the Southeastern Iowa Synod and how to share the gospel through this ministry.

The Spring Conference 8 meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran. Ostrem will be present to offer greetings from the Southeastern Iowa Synod and give an informational presentation.

Everyone is invited to attend the gathering.

SALT group plans potluck

The SALT group will have a potluck meal at noon Thursday at First Baptist Church.

Those attending should bring one food dish to share and their own table service.

Gamma Circle meeting planned Thursday afternoon

Gamma Circle of First Presbyterian Church will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Frieda Dill will be hostess. Susan Phipps will be co-hostess and have the devotions.
