OTTUMWA ? A one-day leadership conference will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Rural Health Education Center on the Indian Hills Community College Ottumwa campus.
?Leadership Now? is open to anyone who has an interest in leadership, particularly those who are interested in leadership as it applies to the local 10-county region.
James Autry, author and former Meredith Corporation executive, will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about servant leadership.
Breakout sessions will focus on a variety of topics. Some sessions are designed as leadership skill-building courses and would be beneficial for anyone who would like to develop their leadership skills. Other sessions are more targeted to specific audiences like those who serve on or lead nonprofit boards of directors or individuals who work or volunteer in city, county or state government.
The conference is the first collaborative effort of four organizations that are active in promoting leadership in the area: Indian Hills Community College, Iowa State University Extension Services, Ottumwa Leadership Academy and ActionCOACH Heartland. Conference organizers hope to increase the number of people in the region who are actively engaged in promoting and practicing positive leadership qualities.
Interested individuals can see a complete agenda for the day by visiting the conference website at www.leadershipnow.net. Register for the conference via this page.
Registration fee is $49 and includes lunch.
Anyone who is a graduate or current member of a leadership program offered by one of the sponsoring organizations can register for the conference at the alumni rate of $39. Contact the leadership program to receive the promotional code. Organizations interested in purchasing 10 or more registrations also qualify for the discounted rate.
