Flavors of Washington County tour set Sept. 22
WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Flavors of Washington County is the theme of a bus tour scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
Michael Zahs, an Iowa history teacher for more than 35 years and a noted Iowa historian, preservationist and speaker will be the tour guide.

WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Flavors of Washington County is the theme of a bus tour scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
Michael Zahs, an Iowa history teacher for more than 35 years and a noted Iowa historian, preservationist and speaker will be the tour guide.
The owners of various Washington County food-related businesses will share their stories, and the tour will focus on a behind-the-scenes look at food production activities. Plans include observing or learning about making cheeses, sorghum, goat milk production, beef jerky, honey, jams and jellies, breads, pastries and more. Samples and purchasing opportunities will be available.
Price is $68 per person and includes lunch, snacks and chartered bus transportation. Meet at the Hy- Vee parking lot in Washington.
