Linda Birney was hostess to Fleur-de-Lis Club members on Thursday, April 23, at 9 a.m. for a morning coffee. President Nancy Kimmel conducted a short business meeting. Roll call was answered with members telling of their usual morning breakfast. The secretary and treasurer reports were given by Linda Birney. Club dues were collected for the coming year and Vice President Bev Krotz handed out the new program booklets for the 2015-16 year.
Members then adjourned to the dining room table where the hostess assisted by Bev Krotz served coffeecake, muffins and fresh fruit. Conversation focused on the neighborhood, family, graduation, and gardening. The hostess shared some craft items she had been working on. She then presented some interesting facts on beavers that are building dams on the creeks in Jackson Township. She showed examples of trees which beavers had cut and bark/wood chips that had been stripped from trees. Their teeth grow rapidly and they have to chew to wear them down. The term ?busy little beavers? was noted in their swift building of dams overnight.
The next meeting will be May 28, at 9:30 a.m., with Pat Stout as hostess.
