The Fairfield Middle School band was recently notified of students who received the outstanding soloist award from the Ottumwa Solo Festival held at the end of February.
Students who perform above-grade-level music at a superior level can be nominated for the award by their judge. They are essentially the best performances of the evening.
FMS students receiving the award this year were: Gannon Courtright, sixth grade alto saxophone; Phoenix Haessler, sixth grade trumpet; James Bechtel, seventh grade trumpet; Katherine Hull, seventh grade flute; and Dakota Andersen, eighth grade trumpet.
Judges at the FMS solo night were able to give outstanding soloist awards to students that they feel have gone ?above and beyond? in their musical performance.
The two judges for this year?s festival awarded the following students with the designation of Outstanding Performance: Eighth grade clarinet trio of Shea Malloy, Katherine Mueller and Lindsey Repp; Dakota Andersen, eighth grade trumpet; Roan Wadsworth, eighth grade drum set; and Dayna Price, seventh grade flute.
