FMS names Students of Month
Each school month, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Fairfield sponsors the Fairfield Middle School ?Students of the Month? award to acknowledge positive contributions of FMS students at school.

Each school month, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Fairfield sponsors the Fairfield Middle School ?Students of the Month? award to acknowledge positive contributions of FMS students at school.
These positive contributions range from assisting teachers and peers in classroom activities to displaying characteristics as a role model in and out of the classroom. The Students of the Month certificates are awarded after a nomination and voting process is completed by each grade-level teaching team.
The Students of the Month for May are:
? Fifth-grader Brooke Miller. Her certificate states, ?Brooke is receiving this award because of her exceptional kindness toward others. She?s always willing to help any student and be a role model. She cares about other?s feelings and wants everyone to do their best. She is extremely observant of who needs extra help and immediately tries to befriend them and/or encourage them. Brooke is also respectful toward all students and teachers and is willing to do what is asked of her. I can always count on Brooke to tell the truth and to be completely honest. She is someone we can all count on!?
? Fifth-grader Gavin Van Veen. His certificate states, ?Gavin is a hard worker. He does a great job of participating in class, and he is eager to learn new things. He works well in groups and makes sure things get done. Gavin can be counted on to turn his work in on time. He shows respect to adults and his peers. Gavin often takes on a leadership role both in and out of the classroom.?
? Fifth-grader Kayla Schubick. Her certificate states, ?Kayla has consistently shown her Trojan PRIDE all year. With a demeanor that can be quiet at times, she is ready to tackle whatever task is set before her to the best of her ability. Kayla is respectful and her friends know they can count on her.?
? Fifth-grader Adrian Scotton. His certificate states, ?Adrian is always challenging himself. He is responsible with his classroom work and I can depend on him to be prepared for class. He is kind and helpful to others.?
? Sixth-grader Kelly Frick. Her certificate states, ?Kelly has had a positive attitude towards learning and sharing all year. It has been great to see her happy, smiling and energetic in the classroom. Kelly?s work ethic has been second to none. She is very adamant about finishing work on time, asking questions for clarity, and understanding the content.?
? Sixth-grader Skye Krause. His certificate states, ?Skye is a very polite, kind, respectful, and caring student. He brings a positive attitude to the classroom and a willingness to help others. He is dependable, comes to class prepared each day, and his work ethic is appreciated by his teachers. We are also extremely proud of his improved attendance during this past month.?
? Seventh-grader Makiya Sisk. Her certificate states, ?Makiya is a very conscientious and responsible student who takes charge of her own learning. She is an active participant in class activities, and is always very helpful. Additionally, her positive attitude is another excellent quality she possesses.?
? Seventh-grader Drake Drish. His certificate states, ?Drake has a positive attitude and makes the best of everything. He is a fantastic participant in class activities, and the quality of his work has gotten better and better as the year has progressed.?
? Eighth-grader Hannah Lyons. Her certificate states, ?Even though she was new this year, Hannah has exemplified Trojan PRIDE from the first day she came to FMS. She is always prepared for class and produces high quality work. She is respectful to her teachers and peers and always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude in class. You can depend on Hannah to do the right thing even when no one is looking because she is a trustworthy student.?
? Eighth-grader Adrian Rincon Restrepo. His certificate states, ?A new student at the tail end of last year, Adrian Rincon Restrepo has overcome normal ?new kid stress? gracefully, successfully, and with a smile. In addition, he has made great strides in overcoming another huge obstacle, that of learning a whole new language. Adrian exemplifies Trojan PRIDE by working hard, and being conscientious, friendly, and responsible. It was a lucky day for FMS when Adrian arrived, and we 8th grade teachers congratulate him on his successful transition and send him on to high school knowing that he will gain the same success there that he has worked for so hard here.?
