New Life Community Food Pantry has undergone some changes in the last couple of months to better meet the needs of people truly needing assistance in Jefferson County and the surrounding areas.
The Rev Linda McGaffey, pastor of New Life Community Church, explained the New Life Community Food Pantry ?is an emergency assistance provider and therefore the available services of the community must first be accessed. If no other assistance is available, the New Life Community Food Pantry asks that calls be made either to the church at 472-2524 or to our volunteer representatives at 233-0072 or 451-0428. Either of these phone numbers will allow for a representative to return the call and set up an appointment within 24 hours for the emergency help.?
McGaffey said the ministry is thankful for the people who are providing food, diapers, washcloths, towels, hygiene packs and more for those in the community needing help.
?This ministry is much needed here in Jefferson County and the surrounding areas, and an average of eight households per month have received assistance this year to date,? said McGaffey. ?This number may not seem high to many ... however, to those 24 households, the blessings were abundant.?
McGaffey said the ministry currently has a need for a good refrigerator that could hold things like milk, eggs and fresh fruit.
For information, call McGaffey at 472-2524.
