Former Fairfield resident Jane Ruby to turn 102

Former Fairfield resident Jane Ruby will turn 102 on Dec. 3. Ruby was the vocal music director at Fairfield High School for many years, and now resides in Des Moines. She continues to live independently in her own apartment, walks up to a half mile a day several times a week, plays bingo, listens to audio books, cheers for the Hawkeyes, and enjoys her Yellow Tail merlot wine.

Ruby's biggest challenge is the aggressiveness of macular degeneration, but her spirits are high, her faith is strong, and her outlook on life is remarkably positive. She willingly follows all of the required pandemic restrictions, but looks forward to a more active social life when the crisis is over.
