The Community Foundation of Washington County, in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend in Bettendorf, will sponsor a Professional Advisers Seminar on Aug. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Nicola Stoufer Room of the Washington Public Library. Hap Volz, Trust and Estates Senior Consultant at the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend will speak about the ?2014 Iowa Trust Code and Tax Update.?
Volz will cover the recently enacted power of attorney and elder abuse statutes as well as other legislative changes to the probate and trust codes. He will also discuss ways to reduce the excise tax on net investment income and give a review of recent cases dealing with probate and trust issues.
There is no cost for the seminar and attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the presentation. Beverages and dessert will be provided. To those who attend this presentation, 1.5 Iowa CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits will be available, through the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.
