Franklin Cubs 4-H Club

The Franklin Cubs 4-H Club met at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the Pizza Ranch. Six members answered roll call of ?Name your favorite winter activity.? The secretary?s report was not given. Jameson Bell gave the treasurer?s report.

Members brought non-perishable food items to be donated to HACAP. The Leadership Development program for ninth- through 11th-graders was discussed. Beef weigh-in was scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Kalona Sale Barn. Weights and identification of beef need to be verified online by Feb. 1. The Single Source Swine class will be offered again to 4-H members this year.

The FSQA training date has been set for Saturday, March 29, from 8:45 a.m. until noon at the Washington County Extension office. All members who will be showing livestock either need to attend this training. Intermediates and Seniors may choose to take the FSQA test.

The club field trip ideas were discussed. It was decided to have the field trip on Monday, Jan. 20, since there is no school that day.

The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the Extension Office.
