The film is a heart-pounding sci-fi thriller that pulls the audience into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. It is the story of a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, but on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving two astronauts completely alone, tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.
The deafening silence tells the austronauts they have lost any link to Earth and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. The only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
The film is rated PG-13 and lasts two hours and four minutes.
See the library?s calendar on its website at www.fairfield.lib.ia.us for additional details about the free movie.
Organic popcorn and bottled water will be available. The donations for popcorn and water help the library renew its movie licenses. The library?s license does not allow it to announce the title of the free film that will be shown.
