Fairfield Public Library will show a free film Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
The 1992 comedy follows two young New Yorkers who travel through rural Alabama on their way back to college, who are arrested and put on trial for a murder they did not commit. A cousin -- a lawyer who had only recently passed the bar exam after several unsuccessful attempts -- takes their case, but has no trial experience. He's not only inexperienced, he's unaccustomed to both courtroom and Southern rules and manners. Much of the humor comes from the fish-out-of-water interaction between the brash Italian-American New York lawyer, his flashy-dressing fiancée, and the more reserved Southern townspeople. The film is rated R, and runtime is 2 hours.
