Fairfield Public Library will show a free film on Friday, Oct. 11.
This 2019 biographical musical film is based on the life of a British musician. In 1950s Britain, a boy is raised by an unaffectionate mother, a loving and supportive grandmother, and a father who takes no interest in his son.
The film follows the burgeoning artist - from his early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, his creative musical partnership with a lifelong friend, and the destructive effects of manipulation by his manager. The musician life spirals out-of-control, before he finally seeks help and gets his life back on course. The film title comes from one of the musician's songs, from the year 1972.
The film is rated R, and has a runtime of two hours and one minute.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and the film starts at 7:30 p.m.
Donations for organic popcorn help renew the library's movie license.
The movie license does not allow the library to advertise the name of the movie it is showing.
