A free movie will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Fairfield Public Library.
The film received five Academy Award nominations and is based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The library?s license does not allow it to share the title, but it stars Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Set in 1964, much of the film?s quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality and authority.

Friends of the Library will debut its new popcorn machine at this event, as organic popcorn sales continue to help the library renew its movie license. The movie is in English and the running time is 103 minutes. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m., and the free film begins at 7:30 p.m.
