Free pawpaw and persimmon planting demonstration Oct. 19

The public is invited to attend a free event to learn about planting pawpaws and persimmons Saturday, Oct. 19 just north of Fairfield.

The event begins at 2 p.m. at Prairie Song Farms, located at 2107 150th Street, 5.5 miles north of the Fairfield square.

Pawpaws and Persimmons are not only delicious, they're fruit crops that grow well here in Southeast Iowa.

This Saturday you can learn how to plant and grow both types of fruit trees at a free demonstration at Prairie Song Farms in Fairfield.

Tom Wahl, expert grower from Red Fern Farm (redfernfarm.com) will be demonstrating proper siting, spacing, preparation and planting of Pawpaw and Persimmon trees. Participants will get hands-on experience by planting a tree with Tom's guidance.
