Freshman, JV teams earn wins
KEOKUK ? The ninth-grade and JV teams helped Fairfield earn a program sweep against Keokuk on Tuesday.
The ninth-graders fought off Keokuk for a tight two-set win (27-25, 26-24), while the JV squad also topped Keokuk in two sets (25-18, 25-14).
?All three groups did a nice job last night. I was real pleased with how everyone performed,? said varsity head coach Nancy Diers.

The ninth-graders fought off Keokuk for a tight two-set win (27-25, 26-24), while the JV squad also topped Keokuk in two sets (25-18, 25-14).

Mackenzi Harwood came through with 10 kills and 16 digs in the freshman match. Mackenzie Flattery also had an outstanding day with 29 digs, and Emma Kuehl tallied two ace serves along with 11 assists. Kelsey Roberts totaled a team-high 13 assists, while Alli Deao and Delaney Neil scored four kills each. Olivia Wallerich finished with three kills and Molly Ryan had one block.
In the JV match, Madison Roberts spiked down six kills and Brooke Stever finished with five. Keri Schwarz and Karley Williams tallied two kills each, while Seaira Drish and Erica Winslow paced the offense with seven and six assists, respectively.
In the back row, Valerie Payne had 14 digs and Williams dug up 12. Jolea Burkhart tallied 10 digs and one ace.
Both Trojan teams are back in action Thursday for their season finales at Fort Madison.
