Freshmen ensemble

Eighteen Fairfield High School freshmen singers participated in the Iowa Choral Director?s Association Solo/Ensemble Contest last Saturday at Fairfield Middle School. The students sang in three ensembles, and seven students also sang solos. The freshmen ensemble, pictured, received a I rating, and mixed ensemble and girls ensemble both received II ratings. Ratings were based on tone quality, intonation, dynamics, rhythmic accuracy and musical expression. The contest, for seventh- through ninth-graders, is intended to prepare young singers for the more rigorous standards they will encounter in the High School State Solo/Ensemble Festival sponsored by the Iowa High School Music Association.
