Two Roads Educational Arts and Theatre will present a 10-performance run ? and a special cookie party ? of ?A Year with Frog and Toad? at TREAT Theatre in the Broadway Building today through July 29.
Nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Broadway Musical, Arnold Lobel?s well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale?s musical.
Conceived by Lobel?s daughter, Adrianne Lobel, ?A Year with Frog and Toad? remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two friends: the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.
National and regional talents Kevin Patrick Martin as Toad, Matt Koplik as Frog, Bridgette Karl as Turtle/Bird and Amy Toruno as Mouse/Bird, return to the stage after starring in the well-received musical ?Pinkalicious.?
They are joined on the stage by Lake City Playhouse academic director and veteran performer Dustin Sorrell as Snail/Lizard/Bird, who also directs the show.
General admission tickets for this family-friendly, professional, Tony-nominated Broadway musical are $13 with children under 2 free at the 70-seat theatre. Tickets may be purchased online at www.showtix4u.com, by phone at 866-967-8167 or at the door, but seating is limited.
