BURLINGTON - 'Radiantly warm singing and sensitive, intelligent interpretation, tightly and inseparably entwined.” That was The Wall Street Journal's verdict on the art of actor-singer Melissa Errico. Now she brings her voice, mind and beauty to Burlington Civic Music for a specially prepared Valentine's Day concert. The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Burlington Memorial Auditorium, 200 Front St., Burlington.
Errico is starring as Daisy Gamble in the off-Broadway revival of 'On a Clear Day, You Can See Forever.” Although New York City audiences best know her for starring roles on Broadway, her career is characterized by diverse interests in many creative corners of show business. She has had a steady career in television, appeared in feature films and performed in non-musical roles in off-Broadway plays. She also has explored music as both a recording artist and concert singer, releasing several albums and working with some of the world's best symphonies and jazz and cabaret ensembles. Her most-recent release, 'Sondheim Sublime,” features her renditions of Stephen Sondheim-penned songs. Errico has starred in several Sondheim musicals, including 'Sunday in the Park With George,” 'Anyone Can Whistle” and 'Passion.” Besides her work with Sondheim, Errico has starred in many other Broadway musicals, including 'Anna Karenina,” 'My Fair Lady,” 'High Society,” 'Dracula,” 'White Christmas” and 'Amour,” which won her a Tony nomination for best actress and began a longtime association with composer Michel Legrand.
Single tickets are $35 ($10 for students). They may be bought on Ticketmaster by visiting their site or by calling 800-745-3000. Tickets also will be sold at Memorial Auditorium the night of the show. For more information about buying tickets, call 319-752-0336.
