Fundraisers for Hospice of Washington County
N/A
Jan. 15, 2019 11:23 am
Hospice of Washington County will be hosting their 24th annual Soup and Supper Silent Auction on Jan. 22, 2019, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington Iowa from 4:15 - 6:30 p.m.
Hospice of Washington is a not-for-profit hospice and palliative care provider. They serve all community members who are hospice appropriate regardless of financial means. These fundraisers are conducted to help them offset the costs of patient care for those who do not have insurance or those that are uninsured.
During 2018 they celebrated 30 years of serving the counties of Henry, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, Louisa, Muscatine and Washington. This year they plan to continue to provide care to those communities and their members who are facing a life-limiting illness and assisting their loved ones.
Each year cuts in Medicare funding affect their bottom line. Fundraisers, memorial gifts and estate gifts help to make the difference and allow them to continue servicing the community.
The offered fundraising events are as follows:
Silent auction donation
An individual, family, business owner or community organization can donate a service, product or gift certificate of their choosing to the silent auction. The highest bid will take the item. The donor's name will be displayed on the item's bid sheet as well as their business or organization.
Soup roaster sponsor
An individual, family, business owner or community organization can sponsor a roaster of soup for the event. The donation amount for a single roaster is $50. This covers the costs of the ingredients that go into making the soup for that roaster.
Attending the event
Tickets for the event are for sale before the event at the Hospice of Washington County office. They can also be purchased at the door on the evening of the event. Adults & carry out is $8, children six-12-years-of-age are $4, children 5 and under eat for free, dine-in only.
All donations are tax deductible and all moneys raised goes toward taking care of patients. Those interested in donations or with questions about the event should contact Robyn Harvey-Smith at 319-653-7321.
Hospice of Washington County asks that they have all donations no later than Jan. 17 and that individuals who plan to commit to being a roaster sponsor by Jan. 18 so that names can be included in marketing material.
