Garden winterization workshop set Sunday

The Naturewise Academy, in cooperation with the city of Fairfield and the ISU Extension service, is planning ?Garden Winterization: Mulching Techniques Part 2? from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Community Garden as part of the autumn workshop series.

The participants will serve as they learn. They will be preparing the second half of the garden using chop-and-drop mulching techniques.

Participants should bring gloves to keep their hands warm and to prevent scratches. The digging is being handled, so most of the work will be light.

The Community Garden produced hundreds of pounds of food for The Lord?s Cupboard this season, and it is time to give back to the soil, said organizers.
