In 1939, the Great Depression was ending and recovery was starting. Washington, Iowa, was celebrating its centennial with a building boom. With funds from the WPA project, new school buildings were opening.
However, Lincoln and Stewart buildings were not the only structures going up. Come to the program sponsored by the Washington County Genealogical Society to learn about the new additions to the town. David Horsey ? The Builder ? will be the guest speaker. Mr. Horsey is a lifelong resident of Washington. He has been involved with construction for 60 years. He has collected much information about Washington buildings and about the year 1939.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, in the State Bank Room of the Washington Public Library. Everyone is welcome.
