GERALD "JERRY" HOPSON

Gerald "Jerry" Hopson, 81, New London, died November 24, 2018. Born June 12, 1937 in LaGrange, MO to Augustus and Lucille Wagner Hopson. June 16, 1957 he married Sonja DeSpain.

Jerry attended New London School and was a member of New London Christian Church. Before farming, he worked for Iowa Illinois Telephone Co., J.I.Case, and IAAP telephone communications. He loved RV'ing; traveling, cruising, wintering in Arizona and volunteered at Old Threshers. He served on the school board, elevator board, New London bank board and as a Henry County Trustee.

Besides his wife, survivors include sons; Kevin, Danville and Kurt, New London; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Rolland, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Arnold in infancy.

Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at Elliott Chapel with the family greeting friends from 5 – 7. The memorial service will be Thursday at 11:00 with Pastors Rod and Nathan Cooper . His body has been cremated; inurnment will follow at Burge Cemetery. Memorials are for New London Christian Church, New London Softball Diamonds, and New London Fire and Rescue.
