Girl Scouts plan Mom and Me camp out

The Fairfield/Van Buren Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is planning its second annual Mom and Me camp out at Camp L-Kee-Ta south of Danville.

The camp out will get under way at 3 p.m. Aug. 13 and continue until 11 a.m. Aug. 14.

According to event coordinator Sandy Davisson, the Girl Scouts and their mothers will be staying in the Troop House, which has a full kitchen, bathroom/shower and electricity. The house does not have air conditioning, but participants can bring fans.

?We will swim and do archery and play games, cook out ? unless it?s too hot ? but we will have an evening camp fire for sure,? said Davisson.

A fee will be charged, but has not yet been set. Davisson explained the price will depend on which meal plan the organizers decide to use, but it will not be more than $25 per couple, with an additional daughter for $5.

A packing list will be sent out to registered participants, and a map to Camp L-Kee-Ta can be provided if needed.
