Two Washington natives, David and Esther Livingston, now of Huntington Valley, Pa., are doing archaeological digs near Jerusalem. They are attempting to prove that Joshua did lead the Chosen People into Israel in 1400 B.C. and that he did, as the Bible says, destroy the three cities of Jericho, Ai and Hazor.
After years of dating, studying and checking geography, David began digging about three miles north of Jerusalem, where he believed Ai had been. David found ruins and has been digging there for four seasons. (A season is a one-month period per year.) So far the digging has uncovered some prizes and Esther said they have found enough proof to substantiate their theory.
