'What type of line is used in an orthographic sketch to project the size of an object from one view to another?”
'A line touching an arc or circle at only one point perpendicular to the arc's radius is said to be what?”
These are two of the questions asked of Washington High School students during a practice test for Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), a college-level academy offered in the district.
Honored during the Washington High School graduation ceremony Sunday were valedictorians Lauren Moeller, daughter of Dave and Kris Moeller; Shelby Marie, daughter of Joe and Linda Marie; and Ryan Bell, son of Jeff and Jan Bell. Braden Gaal, son of Bob and Krista Gaal, was honored as the salutatorian.
Main Street Washington will host a ceremonial SWEEP on Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Central Park to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Centennial Fountain.
As the centerpiece of the downtown district, Main Street is celebrating the fountain's history and the dedication of Andy Ross and his family who spend many hours caring for this landmark.

It's too big and will cost too much. That is the assessment of the Washington County Board of Supervisors regarding the plans for a new administration building at Orchard Hill, presented at the board meeting Tuesday.
Garbage collection on June 9 will be the subject of a study by the Washington County Farm Bureau. Residents have been asked not to set out their garbage, but to divide the garbage into a number of categories to determine the amount of recyclable garbage in Washington.
Washington County Extension Director Jim Frier urges farmers to harvest their hay crop as soon as possible in order to prevent further loss from an unprecedented number of alfalfa weevil larvae destroying this year's fields.

Those passing Conger House recently have noticed that it has undergone an old-fashioned housecleaning. The Conger ladies have been busy with mops, brooms, polish and window cleaner as the summer schedule goes into effect.
Hitting was the big difference Wednesday night as Sigourney rolled to an 11-0 victory over Washington High School in softball at Sigourney.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Radda, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Stout, Mrs. Twila Owens and Mrs. Lola Bower all enjoyed a potluck dinner Memorial Day at the home of Christine Arnold.

Because of stiffer state regulations and a lack of money, St. Mary's Parochial Elementary School, Riverside, is closing as a Catholic school today.
Friday evening, the Washington Kiwanis Club held its annual banquet in recognition of the 30 graduating high school seniors who were named to the honor roll this year.
One hundred and sixty-eight members of the Class of 1969 at Washington High School were honored at the 99th annual commencement program Wednesday evening.
