Two local churches will be hosting professional pianist and organist Glenn Henriksen this weekend.
Henriksen hails from Armstrong, Iowa. Brighton Community Church (101 S. Mechanic St., Brighton) will host Henriksen at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, with a coffee and goodies gathering beforehand beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The United Methodist Church (206 W. 2nd St. in Washington) will offer a free lunch on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a concert at 1 p.m.
For decades, this self-identified farmer has been sharing keyboard music of many genres, including classical, ragtime, blues and jazz, pop and rock, country, Latin, Gospel and sacred. He began playing at the age of 7, receiving musical instruction throughout his childhood and at Luther College in Decorah.
The public is invited to either or both of these free events.
For more information, contact the Brighton Community Church at 319-548-0073 or the Washington United Methodist Church at 319-653-5446.
