A shout out to everyone who enjoyed our Fair Week specials at the library. We enjoyed posting all the pictures of your beautiful flowers and fur family. Miss Iowa did a wonderful job with her story time for our viewers over Zoom. And Jester Jim loved virtually visiting Iowa, and performing from the Jersey shore. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with the Washington County Extension. We thank them for the 4-H TO GO bags. We hope we can all be together on the fairgrounds in 2021.
With more summer to enjoy, we look forward to creating more opportunities to serve our patrons. Curbside continues to be very popular, and we are happy to find materials for anyone who calls, including children. We have enjoyed choosing books for families to take home, and have now put together Packs from the Stacks.
Each pack, contains a mix of 6-8 non-fiction, and fiction books with a theme, and includes an activity for kids. Some of the current packs that are available include cats, Italy, lunch, vegetables, sleeping, mice, monsters, and more. Families can also look at our new online Kids Catalog to put their own pack together. There is a great selection of subjects, with clever icons for your kids to be able to click on, and choose from. Call us at 319-653-2726 or email me at jolisa.weidner@washington.lib.ia.us with your requests.
Also, watch for our Read Around the Square coming soon. Pages of a book will be posted in business windows on the square, with an activity bag at the end. This is a break from virtual, with a little exercise included while you read.
