Green Acres 4-H Club
The Green Acres 4-H Club of Washington County met on Sunday, April 26, at the Washington County 4-H Building. Twelve members were present. President Baylee Stalder led the meeting. Ally Rees led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was, ?If you could invent a kind of ice cream, what would it be??

The Green Acres 4-H Club of Washington County met on Sunday, April 26, at the Washington County 4-H Building. Twelve members were present. President Baylee Stalder led the meeting. Ally Rees led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was, ?If you could invent a kind of ice cream, what would it be??

In old business, club members who attended the Pancake Breakfast shared about their volunteer experiences. The Ready, Set, Sew Workshop was held on March 28, and those who participated shared about their sewing projects. Maggie Smith talked about the Leadership Development program she is involved in this year. Sophie Bell shared about the club?s submission of a Pioneer Grant to help paint the interior of the Old Schoolhouse on the fairgrounds.
The club went to Fired Up last month as its March meeting. Club members received their completed pottery pieces at the conclusion of the meeting. Club members that took the FSQA test or class shared about their experiences. 4-H'ers who attended the Intermediate 4-H Trip to Omaha, Neb., told about their two-day trip experiences to their club members.
In new business, discussions were held about livestock club signs for the county and state fair livestock barns. The 4-H?ers for 4-H Campaign was discussed. It was decided to donate $36 ($3 per club member) towards this fundraising event. The Sheep and Goat Weigh In was May 2. 4-H online entries are due May 15. Clothing event registrations are due May 15. The poultry meeting is July 19 at 6:30 p.m. after check in. Communication enrollment is due July 1. Surprise Design Class signup deadline is May 15.
State fair deadlines and the club pride board were discussed. Members will prepare the Green Acres 4-H Club Pride board at the May meeting. Bring 4 x 5 color prints to add to the board. Junior camp at Crooked Creek is June 16-18(registration was due May 1). The older club members talked about mentoring Clover Kids. Also discussed was entering in the Hay Bale Decorating competition. Fair expectations and herdsmanship were discussed. Members discussed ordering Green Acres 4-H Club apparel. Green Acres Club Leader Tanya Stalder will contact Mark Bohr to get ideas and prices to share at the next meeting.
Ellie Bell suggested the club host a Spring Bake Sale in addition to the Fall Bake Sale at Fareway during National 4-H Week. It will be on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Washington Fareway store. 4-H'ers were asked to make at least two dozen baked goods each. Club members discussed various items to sell and how to package them to sell. Ellie and Sophie Bell will bring their Green Acres 4-H Club pennants. The club will use the 4-H office tablecloth. Everyone was asked to share the date and post their baked goods on their social media to get the word out to help earn money for our 4-H club.
Maggie Smith motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ava Wulf. Ellie Bell led the 4-H Pledge.
After the meeting was adjourned Samantha Mellinger gave a presentation on ?How to Make Pericardia Bracelets.? Ally Rees gave a presentation on ?How to Shoot a Bow.? Ellie Todd gave a presentation on ?The Basics of Dogs in 4-H.?
The next meeting will be held on the fourth Sunday of the month, Sunday, May 24, at the Washington County 4-H Building.
