Nov. 26, 2018 9:38 am
The regular meeting of the Green Acres 4-H Club was held at the Extension office on Oct. 28, 2018. The meeting was called to order by President Sophie Bell at 5 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Paige Malichky. Roll call was 'What is your favorite Halloween costume ever worn?” and it was answered by 20 members. Eighteen visitors were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given and the balance on hand was $1,742.64. The treasurer's report was approved by Zoey Dennler, and seconded by Brynn Northup. The County Council report was also given. County Council delivered farm safety bags and elected officers at their last meeting.
In unfinished business, the Green Acres Club had a fundraiser night at Unc & Neph's on Oct. 30. The butter braid packets that members used to sell were to be turned in that night. If you did sell butter braids, you need to pick them up at the Extension office on Dec. 1 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and deliver them. Reminder that Green Acres Club also has a Facebook page to ‘Like' and watch for information.
In new business, 4-H proud hoodie order forms were handed out and one hoodie costs $25. 4-H awards night took place at the KC Hall on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m., with a potluck starting at 5 p.m. There is a Project Extravaganza on Dec. 1 and then an officer training workshop to teach members about their officer responsibilities. Linda Drish held a photography workshop on Nov. 17, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There are changes in the treasurer and checking account rules for the state of Iowa's 4-H Clubs. Instead of keeping the clubs' money at banks, they are to keep it at the Extension office. The club is thinking of switching in February.
They chose the club's community service ideas that night as well. They will be providing food for HACAP in February, making EMS gift bags in April, and making toys for the animal shelter in June. Ellie Bell made a motion to do those community service projects, seconded by Bailey Rees.
Brynn Northup motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Audrey Smith and then Zoey Dennler led the 4-H pledge.
After the meeting, the club rode on a hayrack ride together to celebrate Halloween.
