WASHINGTON, Iowa ? An outdoor cooking contest designed to promote Iowa meat is being planned by the Washington County Fair Association and Washington County Farm Bureau.
?Grills Gone Wild? cookout contest will be July 20, with judging at 5:30 p.m. during the 2012 Washington County Fair. The champion will receive $100. Category winners will receive $75 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Special recognition will go to winners of the showmanship, youth and team cooking categories.
The champion, along with all first-place category winners and winners of the showmanship, youth and team awards will have the chance to compete in the state finals Aug. 14 at the Iowa State Fair.
The contest is open to any Iowa resident age 13 years or older. Entry forms are available at the Washington County ISU Extension office and must be returned by Friday. For details, call Brian Eakins at 641-660-9732.
