Group tours two gardens
The Washington County Master Gardeners toured two local gardens during the meeting on Aug. 26. The group started at the home of Shirley Steele in Washington. Shirley?s gardens include many perennials, including hostas and grasses, with annuals placed among them to give color and textures. She noted that her plants are chosen specifically to give a colorful display throughout the year with blooms.

The Washington County Master Gardeners toured two local gardens during the meeting on Aug. 26. The group started at the home of Shirley Steele in Washington. Shirley?s gardens include many perennials, including hostas and grasses, with annuals placed among them to give color and textures. She noted that her plants are chosen specifically to give a colorful display throughout the year with blooms.
The group then toured the gardens of Carolyn Schmidt. Carolyn and her husband, Rich, have beautiful displays of shrubs, perennials and grasses. A business meeting was held following the tour with fourteen members present.
