The Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach office will host its monthly Grown Folk Table Talk from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the extension office on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Stan Hughes, the Jefferson County Extension director, said everyone is welcome to attend and participate in discussions about concerns, community events, programs and more.
?My objective is to come up with programming for our youth in the community, along with adults of all ages, to attempt to increase and stimulate their minds spiritually, emotionally and academically so that we may empower them to become better,? said Hughes.
Topics of discussion could address educational workshops, financial advice, community concerns, creating arts and crafts for adults, job searching techniques, resume writing and more.
?One topic I would like to discuss is formulating some academic after-school programs that will educate, enhance and empower our youth to become more aware of the opportunities that lie ahead,? Hughes said.
?These Table Talks will focus more on growing the community all together and to make Fairfield great again,? he added.
Refreshments will be served. Hughes asked that those planning to attend let him know by emailing stanh@iastate.edu or calling 472-4166 so that he knows how much pizza to order.
Hughes plans to host a Grown Folk Table Talks the second Tuesday of every month.
